Going Fourth! How to Throw Your Best 4th Party Ever

After the past several years of cancelled fireworks and parades, we know we are so excited to celebrate with family and friends again. So if you’re gearing up for hosting your Independence day party, the HT editor team is here to help! We’ll show you what you need to make your party epic, whether it’s backyard BBQ, Poolside Fireworks, Post-Parade Party and more.

SMALL SPACE SPECTACULAR

Just because your patio is on the small side doesn’t mean you can’t give some big fun for your fourth. Choose items that serve dual purpose, such as Teal Island’s double chair with it’s own built in between-seat table (with additional storage underneath) and Endless Summer’s Liberty fire pit that doubles as a center table. Keep food and beverage items in easy reach with Novgratz’s double decker bar cart. A pair of light Adirondack chairs work great as they can be moved around to maximize your space while seating your guests comfortably with a few star-inspired throw pillows. And for some added holiday ambiance, hook up Arlec America’s flag string lantern lights. They’re battery powered so no need to hunt for an outlet or have anyone tripping over that wayward extension cord.

TASTY BACKYARD BBQ

The number one activity on most everyone’s 4th of July check list? Why the time honored BBQ, naturally! Whether it’s hot dogs and hamburgers, grilled veggies and corn on the cob, you’d be hard pressed to find anyone not cooking out or at least attending a cook out on the holiday.

Of course, you can’t have a great BBQ without a good grill, so if you’re looking to upgrade your system this season we highly recommend the Weber Genesis II E-325. With three powerful burners and a 9,000 BTU sear burner that’s guaranteed to ignite every time, this fellow has been rising to the top of just about everyone’s list. No, really! It’s backed by a 10 year warranty on all parts of the grill. Try getting that from your charcoal kettle. The cast iron cooking grates are porcelain-enameled to make them super easy to clean and retain even heat. There’s a tuck-away warming rack and it’s compatible with iGrill 3 smart technology that’ll allow you to keep a hands-free eye on your meat while enjoying the party. And lucky you, we found one in a gorgeous patriotic blue. YW.

So now that you have your grill situation covered, let’s get festive with your outdoor dining space. Get things off to a holiday start by grounding the dining area with ZGallerie’s blue and white striped outdoor rug. Make sure you have plenty of space and seating for your crowd with Brenton’s 9 piece dining set (made from sturdy and rot-resistant Eucalyptus). Expecting even more people? Grab this set of 4, handsome wood stacking armchairs from the Cerrissa Collection. A rustic stars-and-stripes table runner pairs beautifully with Certified International’s holiday 3 piece hostess set (made of durable heavy duty melamine) and 8 piece diamond acrylic tumblers. Finally, upgrade your patio lights to holiday status by adding Northlight’s 10 count red, white and blue metal stars string set.

POST-PARADE COCKTAIL PARTY

Full of fun and spectacle, we love a good Fourth of July parade. After all the fanfare and before the big BBQs begins, many of us have a pre-cookout cocktail party to keep the holiday energy going. If you’re hosting this year, you’ll want to offer a good balance of light food options (save room for all that cooking later!) and plenty of libations (including plenty of non-alcoholic offerings to keep folks hydrated). There’s a lot of activity at parades, so when your guests arrive, make sure you have enough comfy seating to go around.

We found this eight piece rattan furniture set at an amazing price, complete with two center tables that can be placed together or separated to give multiple serving uses. Speaking of multiples, we found Godinger’s heavy acrylic glasses in four packs of red, white and blue. At $15.99 per set, you can easily get enough to festively handle twelve guests. Serve them up at your outdoor bar that’s been all dressed up with some American bunting (courtesy of Valley Forge). For final touches, throw down Momeni’s americana blue and white striped outdoor rug and toss a few Fourth-inspired throw pillows from Sun Squad. Time for a toast to freedom!

PATRIOTIC POOLSIDE PARTY

When it’s hot as July and you have a pool – you ARE the party. Take things to next level by adding some decidedly Independent décor. Swap out your regular lounge cushions for these red and white striped ones, which will look fantastic with some patriotic pillows such as Mina’s blue and white star and a complementary anchor pillow from Vision 1. Keep your guests entertained with plenty of cold beverages inside Oniva’s six-sided cooler (which doubles as an extra seat) and lots of tunes from Treblab’s HD77 bluetooth speaker (rugged and water resistant). Give your guests a good chuckle when you serve up some grub on CI’s adorable set of “hot dog” melamine plates, and when it’s time to dive in, they can enjoy themselves on Sun Squad’s giant popsicle inflatable.

FUN WITH FIREWORKS

Planning a fun day on the grass, maybe listening to some live holiday music and/or setting your space for the fireworks later? Bring your festive with you! Oniva’s americana patchwork blanket is perfect for the occasion. Made solid and sturdy for festival use, it’s a generous size at nearly 5 by 6 feet. Don’t forget to bring some comfy pillows like Elise & James’ patriotic doggo and FreshMint’s blue and white stripes. Ensure plenty of snacks and bevies with XtremepowerUS ice chest cooler. It holds 37 quarts and includes 2 cup holders up top. It’s rated for rugged outdoors and comes with a telescoping handle to make for easy transportation. Keep your flatware and glasses in easy reach with this backpack for four from Picnic at Ascot (also comes with a handy wine holder). And as the sun sets, don’t forget to pack some fun glow sticks for the kids (or just kids at heart, no judging!). And sure, you could go with the standard stick, but why when you can have blue star-shaped ones from Spritz. At 2 dollars each, you can outfit your whole crew! Last but not least, you’ll want some tunes while you wait, and JBL’s Charge 5 portable speaker will give you 20 hours of playtime and it both dust and water resistant.

So that’s our list! We hope you enjoyed it and maybe found a few items to add to your own Fourth of July festivities this year. No matter your plans, we here at HomeTailer wish you all the very best, safe and fun Fourth of July!
