BEACHY STYLE
It would seem that 2022 has given us some serious coastal cravings…or a least the vibe of light and airy, clean aesthetics that come with it. A quick clarification on this style, as so often Coastal can get mistaken for Nautical, which it most certainly is not. The flavors can be similar, but whereas nautical, with its anchors and seashells, can run a bit ironic (or downright kitschy in some cases) coastal is more about catching the ease of the beach environment and less about literal items. So the trick is to keep with natural tones and materials that translate to the shore, things such as weathered wood, beiges and crisp white.

ARTFULLY ARTISAN
Objects that speak to us on a personal level. Bespoke décor and unique treasures. These are what many of us are craving these days. Tiny photos in cookie cutter frames? Out. Mass produced one-size-fits-all furniture? Sooo out. What’s in? Personal photos etched on glass. Hand-crafted items with a truly one-of-a-kind feel. Creating this look for your home office means seeking out the sustainable, the handmade, the quirky and exotic.

GREEN AND GOLD
They’re a match made in interior design heaven and this combination is pretty much everywhere in 2022, from kitchens to bathrooms to…you guessed it, home offices. The warmth of gold pairs as well with rich green jewel tones as it does with sage-y muted colors. Our favorite take on this power couple pair is to infuse a flavor of 70s styling, dark woods, and a little whimsy just to keep things fun.

COLORFUL CREATIONS
Alternatively, some of us are craving more colorful quarters. The bold patterns and colors of Maximalism help keep us energized and can really boost your mood. These in-your-face colors and patterns carry a punch, and if overdone can read overwhelming. The trick is to focus on use of colors and patterns that have the same level of intensity. Oh and for the record, maximalist does not mean cluttered. Items gathered together in this “more is more” concept should be relational to each other in some way, i.e. – a collection of similar use items, baubles of similar tone, or pieces.

BOUTIFUL BIOPHILIA
Blame it on all the sheltering in place, but our desire for reconnection to our natural world has us actively bringing the outside in at just about every opportunity. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Natural light and greenery can have a direct and positive influence on us – calming and focusing us. This trend is all about surrounding your office in natural and natural-looking woods and plants. Oh yes…and green…lots of green
