Great Outdoor Decor Ideas for your Independence Day

The Independence Day holiday is nearly here, and while many large events such as fireworks and parades aren’t happening, social bubble appropriate parties most certainly are! Whether it’s a family-only BBQ or a friendly social distancing group, the Fourth is a great time to show off a little flair, and celebrate.

We’ve got some great ideas to give your celebration a boost. And as a nod to our deep love of Keeping America Beautiful, we’ve made a conscious effort to include reusable options that will have you ditching the ‘one-and-done’ disposables.

FRONT DOOR FLAIR

Set the mood for your guests right at the front door. Pleated fan flags are perfect over the front windows or draped across the porch rails. Small flags are easy to place in along the front walk way or judiciously placed anywhere on your front patio. And don’t forget your door! We love Mohawk Home’s cute take on the patriotic welcome sign and a red, white and blue bow with LED lights completes the festive mood.

PREPPING THE PATIO

Once your guests arrive, they’ll most likely be spending the majority of their time in the backyard. We’ll talk about setting up a perfect patriotic table in a moment, but first, how about we spruce up your patio too? If you have patio furniture in either red, white or blue, fantastic! If not (or you want to up your game) here’s some decor options to give things a real independent feel. Start with grounding your look with a red and white striped outdoor rug. Then add some color with outdoor throw pillows. We liked these by Divine Home because they give hints of red and blue striping, but in a more organic way. Speaking of organic, this bright red 2-tiered metal plant stand by Uma would look lovely with a mix of cut holiday-colored flowers, and then filled with plants after the festivities are over. Craving a little more? This stars & stripes patio umbrella we found from Sonoma Goods leaves no doubt what day it is, and the twinkling red and blue star lights will keep the theme going even after the sun goes down.

SETTING THE TABLE

So now we get to the main event! Keep your star-spangled table looking fab with a more classic Americana look. Layer a cotton check tablecloth with an earthy jute runner. Cherry-covered melamine plates give a cheeky nod to Mr. Washington, while gold cotton napkins add some posh. For the center, a robust sized red, white and blue chip & dip platter will hold plenty of snacking power and a tall silver-starred pedestal plate will keep your cupcakes covered and gives visual interest by adding some height.

LIBERTY & LIBATIONS

We’d be remiss if we didn’t add some fun finds to help you quench the thirst of your guests. Ditch the non-recyclable red cups and straws in favor of these equally colorful (and reusable) options. Take your wine and cocktail love to the next level while giving some statehood love with these 21 oz glasses courtesy of Cathy’s Concepts. Red, white and blue re-freezable ice cubes keep things cool. Stars-and-stripes cotton cocktail napkins keep damp hands to a minimum. And of course, what’s the Fourth without Rocket Pops? Make ahead of time for the little ones, or if you’re party only includes those young-at-heart, give them a feast of your favorite frozen alcoholic pop recipe.
